Colon Surgery in Austin, TX

Dr. Steven Fass is an Austin-based physician and fellowship-trained expert in laparoscopic surgery, highly-skilled in performing surgery to treat colon cancer and diverticulitis.

Your colon is the part of your large intestine responsible for reabsorbing bodily fluids and processing waste to leave the body, one of the final steps in digestion.

Colon Cancer
Surgery to remove part or all of the colon is often required to effectively treat colon cancer. Dr. Fass is experienced in using minimally-invasive techniques to remove cancerous or precancerous polyps in the colon.

Diverticulitis
Sometimes small, bulging pouches form on the colon. This condition is called diverticulosis and does not typically require medical treatment. However, diverticulitis occurs when any of these pouches on the colon become infected.

Diverticulitis can often be treated by rest and diet changes, but extreme cases may require surgery to remove part of the colon. Dr. Fass is experienced in this procedure and often performs it robotically.

Common symptoms of diverticulitis are:

  • Stomach pain
  • Fever
  • Chills
  • Nausea
  • Diarrhea or constipation

If you have diverticulitis or have been diagnosed by your gastroenterologist with a colon polyp or cancer, please call Dr. Fass for an appointment. Call us at 512.334.1885 or fill out the contact form below.
