29_goals_holidayWhen planning out your holiday parties, it may be overwhelming at first to think about how you are going to be able to stick to your diet and exercise routines. I mean, who wants to go to a party and avoid all food and drinks except veggies and water?! We are here to tell you that you can do it! You can go to all of your holiday parties and not have to worry about adding extra pounds that you will need to get rid of with your New Year’s Resolution.

First and foremost, plan to stick to your diet instead of letting yourself splurge and then having to go back to undo the damage. Next, when going to a dinner party, bring an entree that you can dig into guilt-free! Then choose sides that you know are safe. Some examples are steamed vegetables, sweet potatoes, or salad with a light dressing. Finally, reward yourself by knowing you won’t have to undo any damage done by following a stricter diet after the holidays are over.

If you find yourself too busy to get to the gym in between parties, stick to your exercise routine by adding some cardio or strength training into your holiday to-do list. Some ideas are, walking an extra lap at the mall while looking for that last minute gift, do bicep curls with canned vegetables before cooking them, or do a quick ab focused exercise in between wrapping gifts.

There’s no reason to let the holiday season ruin your diet and exercise routines. Be sure to enjoy yourself with friends and family, but also be confident in sticking to your diet and workouts so that you can maintain your goals through the season.
